The Getå Landslide, Sweden,1918.
The Getå Landslide occurred on
a steep down towards Bråviken in Norrköping
Municipality.
Coordinates: 58°39'54.83"N 16°15'12.70"E
The rail road "accident" in
connection with the landslide occurred on October
1, 1918, near Getå. The current railway line had been opened on October
1, 1915. Train 422 had departed from Malmö at 7.00 a.m..
The three last stations on which it stopped were Mjölby, Norrköping and
Åby. The train departed from Åby at 6:54
p.m.. It derailed
about 1.5 km west of Getå.
The train pulled down telephone poles in the crash. High
on the right is the edge of the
embankment. The restaurant carridge
is on its edge. The locomotive is in the foreground.
The first three carriages behind the locomotive crashed
toward the road below the
embankment. They had a structure in wood. They
caught fire. The steel skeleton from a carriage is
visible in the center of the picture. The
restaurant carriage to the left was hanging on the edge of the
embankment.
In 1918 there was no electrification of the
Swedish rail
road network. The lights inside the carriages were lamps powered
by acetylene gas. There was a gas tank in each carridge. Survivors have
testified that the carriages closest to the locomotive were quickly
in flames. The reason was that gas ran out of damaged gas tanks. The
Railway Board claimed that it was glowing coal from the locomotive that
caused the fire. At the same time, it was stated as "proof" that the
stoker,
Mr. Carlsson, died when he got glowing coal over him. Most of the
dead were in the three carriages near the locomotive. They were burned
to death.
The remains of a burnt out
carriage.
About 45 m of the rails
ended up on the road. Railroad workers
dismantle the rail.
To the right towards the edge of the embankment
is the restaurant carridge. Bråviken on the left.
The landslide seen from
above. Some of the masses slipped into Bråviken. As the train
approached the landslide
scene it was in compact darkness. The speed was
60-70 km / h.
The rails hung in the air. They were pressed down
by the train until they
burst at both edges
of the landslide. The width of the landslide
at the rails was about 45 m. The restaurant
carriage
is visible in the middle to the right and the locomotive on the left. In
between, the remains of
the burnt out carriages are visible.
The yellow dotted line is the top of the
embankment.
In October 1918, the end of the First World War was
approaching. Germany's capitulation was imminent. The disappointment
within the German-friendly part of the Swedish establishment was great.
My assumption is that right-wing Swedish militaries are behind the Getå
landslide. People in the engineering troops
possessed the skills required to carry out the terrorist act. The
preparations have included calculations of the strength of the
embankment. The landslide has been started from the top
of the steep. The task was to
release sufficient landslide mass above the embankment to
initiate its landslide.
The most likely thing is that they triggered an explosive charge as high
up on the steep as possible. There was no properties near the
landslide scene.
The blasting could be carried out without any disturbance. At the bottom of the
steep is a memorial
stone. The height from the road to the top of the embankment is about 8
meters. The height from the top of the embankment to the crest of the
steep is
about 10 meters. At the crest a rock formation is visible. The incline of
the steep is about 45 degrees.
Media reported on the Getå landslide.
Östergötlands Folkblad stated that hundreds of people were killed or
injured. At the same time, a communiqué from the Swedish Railway
Board is published. There, the Board stated (in
summary):
125 people are thought to have been on the train.
The train set consisted of a locomotive plus 8
carridges. The last three
carridges
in the train set remained on the embankment after the derailment.
A landslide had occurred and was the cause of the derailment.
The newspaper Dalpilen writes that the train set
consisted of a locomotive plus seven carridges. Four "followed in the depth".
The restaurant carriage
was the last of the four. Three carriages
were left on the railway.
On October 2, the Swedish Railway
Board launched an investigation. The landslide
was investigated by the National Geotechnical Commission of the National
Railways. According to the Commission's final report (dated 1922), the
landslide was described as sliding along a "bowl-shaped cut surface".
The landslide occurred mainly from the top of the
embankment and downwards but also to some extent from above the
embankment. The month before the landslide had been
unusually rainy.
At the bottom left there
are four people standing on what is left of the
embankment. On their
upper right side you can see part of the landslide above the
embankment.
My view is that these
landslide masses have been initiated
via an explosive charge higher up on the steep. The filler
material in the embankment looks dry and
fine. It indicates that it was well draining.
The Getå landslide is the largest
terrorist act ever to have occurred in Sweden. I believe that it was
primarily directed at the forces that opposed Germany's warfare.
The Social Democratic Party leader Hjalmar
Branting was the leader of the resistance in Sweden. He was
party leader for the Social Democrats from 1907 and in 1920 became
Sweden's first Social Democratic Prime Minister.
The "accident" has been named "The
Getå Landslide" after the nearby place
Getå. The purpose of the name is racist and
refers to the semen donor Crown Prince Gustaf
Adolf who later became King Gustaf VI Adolf.
Under the New World Order
section I show his
position in Jehovah's insemination system. There may have been
dissatisfaction among the German-friendly with
Jehovah's choice of him as the alpha male. Gustaf VI Adolf was of
British descent. He was at this time married to the British Princess
Margaret of Connaught. There was no doubt where his sympathies lay
during the First World War.
Wikipedia states the number of passengers on the train
to 170, the number of fatalities to 42 and the number of injured to 41.
In fact, the disinformation submitted in
connection with the "accident" means that no one knows for sure the
exact figures. The burnt-out carriages also made the
identification work very difficult.
A memorial stone has been erected
at the landslide scene.
